2020 proved to be a very successful year for Nintendo, the company endured a challenging year thanks to Nintendo Switch Lite, Animal Crossing, and Mario Kart Live: Home Circuit. However, there are reports that Nintendo could launch a 4k capable Switch later this year, Rodrigo’s information claims that the console could launch on April 23, 2021.

According to this new information, the Nintendo Switch Pro can display 4k while docked and it features the Joy controllers in a revised form. The console will also boast a new high definition screen and a 256 internal SSD. The console will be sold at 399 USD.

Back in September, Nintendo reportedly informed its third-party development partners to produce future games on 4K.  The new version of the Switch might use NVIDIA’s DLSS, a technique that uses AI to upscale games to higher resolutions.

There are also reports from the Economic Daily News that affirmed that Nintendo Switch Pro will launch in Q1 2021. The Wall Street Journal also claimed in 2019, that the Japanese tech giant was planning a hardware revision with “enhanced featured targeted at avid gamers”.

Suikoden’s Producer, Writer, and Director Yoshitaka Murayama also slipped his tongue about the next-gen console when he affirmed in Eiyuden Chronicle: Hundred Heroes‘ Kickstarter campaign that its new RPG will launch for next-gen devices, PS5, Xbox Series X, and a next-gen Switch in 2022. There is also evidence of the rumored next-gen console deep in the files of the Nintendo Switch’s Ver. 10.0.0.

Nintendo might want to avoid having three different consoles at sales as it might deter game developers to do extra work to support three pieces of hardware, but the Nintendo Switch Pro is also a need of the Japanese giant to compete with the Xbox Series X|S to stay relevant.
