The latest Nintendo Switch update, version 10.0.0 released recently, adding some neat features like the ability to move game data to and from an SD card, and button remapping. But the keen eye of dataminer Mike Heskin has found evidence that may suggest to the highly anticipated Switch Pro.

Firmware 10.0.0 adds preliminary support for a new hardware model: "nx-abcd".
3 of the 5 new DRAM profiles are for this new hardware type and there's evidence of a secondary display of sorts being added exclusively on this model.

This information suggest that the new Nintendo Switch console won’t be necessarily more powerful, new the model NX-ABCD, would bring is a second display that would make the console similar to the Nintendo 3DS.
This information has to be taken with plenty of skepticism, for the moment no other dataminer has confirmed the information that Mike Heskin claims. It is important to mention that, Nintendo has not announced, teased or even suggested that they have plans to create a new version of the Switch. Last year was a very profitable year thanks to sales of the Switch Lite, the entry level Nintendo console and it’s unlikely that Nintendo would add a new hardware that would essentially make their best selling console obsolete.
According to Nintendo Life, the Nintendo Switch has sold over 50 million units, a staggering number since its launch in 2017. The launch of the Switch Lite has increased sales and is responsible for a 13 percent drop in sales of the original version over the past months. But The Financial Times suggest the necessity of Nintendo of reinventing the small console ahead of more powerful competition.
The Switch, three years old in March, is teetering on the brink of becoming outdated. Rivals are launching smartphones and new consoles with the latest features, while cloud gaming poses challenges to the sector.
Nintendo won’t discuss about rumors, Mike Heskin claims will go unnoticed by the tech giant, but right now, plenty of dataminers must’ve been intrigued by this new Switch Pro rumor, they’re probably taking an in depth analysis of the firmware update. This rumor will be either confirmed or debunked in the following days.
