An announcement trailer at the Game Awards teased fans with Surgeon Simulator 2, the upcoming sequel to the insanely difficult and often-times hilarious fan favorite Surgeon Simulator.
The announcement trailer follows an inanimate object (later revealed to be Bob’s severed head), as it makes its way through the confines of a mysterious medical facility via various rigs and contraptions—including conveyor belts, bowling alleys, and high-speed… laundry carts. Surgery will, of course, remain at the heart of the experience, but as the trailer suggests, Surgeon Simulator 2 will be a vastly expanded offering promising true co-operation.
After its release in 2013, the original Surgeon Simulator gained immense popularity among YouTubers and Lets Play video creators, in part due to its crazy level of difficulty—and even more for its potential to leave viewers crying with hysterical laughter. Stepping into the shoes of Dr. Nigel Burke, a would-be surgeon with a less than conventional toolkit, players operated on their victims… err, patients, replacing their organs with new ones—or with whatever happened to be lying around.
The games success saw it ported to PlayStation 4, Android, PlayStation VR, iOS, and the Nintendo Switch. Garnering a strong cult following over the years, Surgeon Simulator continues to generate over 400,000 views every day on YouTube.
Arriving in 2020, the electrifying sequel that is Surgeon Simulator 2 promises to inject a delirious dose of adrenaline straight into the heart of the original, cranking everything up to a whole new level. According to the development team, olayers should anticipate a handful (or four) of surprises along the way.
