Guardians of The Galaxy Goes Gold

This year has been filled to the brim with announcements of games getting delayed, either to later this year as was the case with Battlefield 2042 or out of this year entirely like Ghostwire: Tokyo, Rainbow Six: Extraction, and a lot more. So amid those announcements, to hear that the upcoming Square Enix and Eidos Montreal game Marvel’s Guardians of The Galaxy has gone Gold is welcome news.

Announced via Twitter, the studio let us know that the date they had stated during the E3 2021 Square Enix Presents showcase would indeed be the day that players could start saving the galaxy. This tweet was accompanied by both Star-Lord and Cosmo dancing in celebration of this news.

Unlike the other Square Enix Marvel IP Marvel’s Avengers, GoTG is a single-player experience where characters take control of Star-Lord as he leads his team of rag-tag misfits on a galactic adventure. The game will feature choice-based dialog, a choice amount of music from the ’70s and ’80s, and the off-beat brand of humor the guardians have become known for.

It will also feature fast-paced action as you fight enemies, almost feeling reminiscent of the kind of combat at the center of Final Fantasy XV. Peter Quill will also be able to activate a period of increased power for him and his team all set to a classic song.

The game will feature a streamer mode for content creators looking to get around DMCA takedowns. Word of caution though, recently Square Enix’s title Life is Strange: True Colors featured a streamer mode and opted to simply remove the music from scenes. This lead to at least one awkward scene of two characters dancing and playing air guitar to absolute silence.

Marvel’s Guardians of The Galaxy will be blasting its way onto systems on October 26, 2021, and be available for PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, and PC.
