Alan Wake Remaster Shows 7 Minutes of Gameplay

Remedy has showcased seven minutes of their upcoming Alan Wake Remastered, courtesy with IGN. This comes a little over a week ahead of the game’s release onto all consoles, which includes the PlayStation 4 and Playstation 5, which it has not previously been available on.

The gameplay begins at the start of the second level of the game. Alan Wake awakens in his car after a bad crash and with no memory of what had actually come before. The opening sequence of this, which features a close-up of Wake’s face, actually works well to showcase the upgraded visuals, that are presented in full 4k.

We then see him take to the forest, moving through the beautiful environment in a full 60 FPS. Both of these elements help make the case for a second romp through Bright Falls if you are a returning player while making the case for a first trip if you have never played before even after all these years.

That being said, while the game does look vastly improved over its original outing, it will still look dated overall, with the clunky movement of Alan Wake still very visible in the trailer. At a $30 dollar price tag, this should not be too much of a deal-breaker. Unfortunately, the game will not feature raytracing. Since light plays a pivotal role in the gameplay that would have been a cool addition. It will however allow for Nvidia upscaling on PC, with a range of options present on that platform.

Alan Wake Remastered will recharge his flashlight fight the darkness yet again on October 5 for PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S. Remedy is also working on Several AAA titles, with one set within the Control and Alan Wake universe. Though it is not known what that project is it is possible it might be Alan Wake 2.
