In a recent interview with Game File, Xbox CEO Asha Sharma revealed that the upcoming Xbox console, Project Helix, may be affected by the memory shortages impacting the PC and gaming industry. According to Sharma, “Memory costs will impact pricing, will impact availability.” She added that the company is not yet ready to provide a release window. Sharma also noted that Xbox is currently focused on what it can control, building “a great console to play great games, including your PC games.”
The CEO’s full statement regarding the console:
“All of these things are an equation. Memory costs will impact pricing, will impact availability. As we think about being where the world plays, we will take that into consideration. So we’re not ready to share a launch timeline right now. The world’s pretty dynamic. My number one focus, though, is to focus on what’s in our control, build a great console to play great games, including your PC games.”
Last month, Microsoft Gaming revealed new details about its recently announced next-generation console, Project Helix, at the Game Developers Conference 2026. The company stated that it plans to ship Alpha test kits of the consoles to developers in 2027. Additionally, according to a recent Xbox Wire post, Xbox vice president of next generation Jason Ronald wrote that Project Helix is designed to “play your Xbox console and PC games.” The console will also be “powered by a custom AMD [system on chip] and co-designed for the next generation of DirectX and FidelityFX Super Resolution,” and it “delivers an order of magnitude leap in ray tracing performance and capability.”
Shows a mission in the game.
