Xbox App Can Now Stream Games on iOS

Xbox has updated the Xbox App on iOS devices, the new versions include the Xbox Remote Play feature that users to stream Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S games on iPhone and iPad devices running iOS 12.0.

Here is what’s new in the Xbox App:

• Set up new consoles and queue games
• Play remotely from your console
• View and share game clips & screenshots
• Party chat with friends across devices

Is important to mention that Xbox Remote Play should not be confused with Project xCloud, the cloud streaming platform of Microsoft, to stream Xbox games to iOS a console, and a robust “5Ghz Wi-Fi or mobile data connection” with speeds of “10Mbps down” is needed.

Having already established a partnership with Samsung, and having xCloud ready in Android, only Apple is holding back Xbox’s plan.  The new Xbox App should be considered as a confirmation of Spencer’s determination to reach the 2.8 billion gamers in the world.

Microsoft is reportedly looking for a legal way to bypass the App Store policy that practically bans xCloud on iOS, Phil Spencer informed to employees at an official meeting that Cloud Gaming “Will absolutely will end up on iOS”. To achieve that goal a direct browser-based solution is planned.

Project xCloud is now available with Xbox Game Pass Ultimate, subscribers will be able to take one of the 150 titles featured on the go on Android or play it on an Xbox console.

Xbox’s Cloud Streaming features a complete Xbox experience, featuring the friend list, achievements, parties and voice chat, cloud saves, and the ability to enjoy multiplayer with other gamers, irrespective of whether they are playing on console or via the cloud.

Xbox Game Pass Ultimate is now live in 22 countries to ensure stability as the Xbox team scale the feature to millions of gamers globally. “This holiday, some of the best EA Play games will be available for Xbox Game Pass Ultimate members to play on Android devices via the cloud at no additional charge.”
