The House of the Dead: Remake Announced for Switch

During today’s Nintendo Indie World Showcase, it was confirmed that the highly-anticipated The House of the Dead: Remake is coming to Switch.

The remake was announced back in September 2019 following an agreement with Sega granting the publisher and the developer team the rights to develop and release remakes of The House of the Dead and The House of the Dead 2.

The House of the Dead: Remake is a remade version of the game introduced in 1997 on arcade platform. A classic arcade rail shooter receives a whole new entourage and gameplay changes to suit modern gaming standards.

A few months ago, a blank Twitter account for the remake was created, interestingly the domain hotdremake.com was registered by Forever Entertainment. The official Discord server for the game confirmed that the Twitter account is official. More information arrived viaForever Entertainment’s management board, stating that The House of the Dead: Remake will have updated graphics and gameplay modifications to appeal to a modern audience, its plot will remain “faithful” to the original.

Forever Entertainment’s CEO Zbigniew Dębicki also stated that the Remake is being developed at the same time as Panzer Dragoon II Zwei: Remake, Magical Drop 6, Shadowgate 2, and several unannounced Square Enix titles. Dębicki also talked about the control scheme of the remake stating that the franchise “is a typical gun game and that’s exactly what the recommended gameplay will be”.

The House of the Dead: Remake is being developed by Megapixel Studio and will be published by Forever Entertainment. The remake is expected to release on Xbox One, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Epic Game Store, and Steam.
