Square Enix has announced that a new version of the original Final Fantasy VII will launch on PC via Steam with “an improved gameplay experience.” Players who own the original version on Steam will receive the new release for free, and the existing version will remain accessible to those who already own it. The older release will be renamed Final Fantasy VII – 2013 Edition and will be delisted from storefronts. Save data will not be compatible between the two versions.
