Santa Monica Hiring For Unannounced Game

PlayStation Studio’s Santa Monica is looking for “an experienced Art Director for the development of a new unannounced title”.

The information arrived via Santa Monica’s official Twitter account, what’s intriguing about it, is that the studio already announced God of War: Ragnarok in the lastest PlayStation Showcase.

The highly-anticipated God of War: Ragnarok is set to be released later this year for PlayStation 5, the unannounced project might still be far into the future, but the project has been in production for the better part of the last four years suggest an old post from the studio.

Earlier this week one Naughty Dog developer teased that the upcoming project from the studio is completely different from what it’s seen in Uncharted and The Last of Us, Santa Monica, one of the biggest and most important development teams at Sony Interactive Entertainment may also be working on a new IP.

Digging into the job listing, the studio is looking for someone capable of guiding and inspiring the development team “to deliver the best visual quality.” It’s suggested that the vision for the new project is a new artistic direction, which is why fans are debating on Twitter if a new IP is being produced.  The Art Director will have to be a very experienced developer as the studio requires at least ten years of experience as an Art Lead or Art Director for a AAA game.

Historically, Santa Monica Studio has also been a pioneer in innovation, mentoring new voices in game development through an “incubator” program of sorts, and working with acclaimed teams such as thatgamecompany, Giant Sparrow, SuperBot Entertainment, and Tangentlemen.

With these teams, Santa Monica has published several innovative and award-winning games, some that could be the unannounced project: flOw, Flower, Journey, Here They Lie, The Order: 1886, Bound, Warhawk, Twisted Metal, Fat Princess, Escape Plan, Sound Shapes, The Unfinished Swan, the PixelJunk series, and more.
