The winners of the 37th annual Golden Joystick Awards were revealed today at the award ceremony in London—and Resident Evil 2 took home the ultimate prize.
Also known as the People’s Gaming Awards, the Golden Joystick Awards is the second-oldest video game award ceremony after the Arcade Awards. Originally the gaming members of the British general public voted for the winners, but as time passed, voting opened up to anyone online.
Over 3.5 million public votes were cast to determine the winners over nineteen categories, including Ultimate Game of the Year, Most Wanted Game, and PlayStation, Xbox, PC, and Nintendo Games of the Year. In addition, five critics choice awards were handed out, including Lifetime Achievement, Outstanding Contribution, Breakthrough Award, and Critics Choice.
