PlayStation Plus Video Pass

PlayStation Plus Video Pass Listed on Polish Website

Sony could be launching the PlayStation Plus Video Pass, a logo of the service along with its description was leaked on Sony’s Polish website.

“A new benefit available for a limited time on PlayStation Plus… PS Plus Video Pass is a trial service active 22.04.21 – 22.04.22. The subscription benefit is available to PS Plus users in Poland.”

PlayStation Plus Video Pass will allow users to stream movies, it’s also expected that anime will be added via Funimation. The three movies showcased in the now-removed website banner are Venom, Bloodshot, and Zombieland, it’s worth noting that all are produced by Sony.

Sony recently announced that the PlayStation Store will stop offering movies and TV content for purchase or rental.

From August 31, 2021, video content will no longer be available via the digital storefront, the company said. However, existing purchases will still be available to access.

PlayStation Plus Video Pass could be a response to the Xbox Game Pass service, the Japanese giant has launched several initiatives that can be understood as moves to counter Game Pass.

The PlayStation 5 launched with a curated library of 20 PS4 games called PlayStation Plus Collection. PlayStation Plus is also offering more AAA games as part of the service’s free-to-play games.

God of War and Twisted Metal creator David Jaffe recently said on his YouTube channel that Sony Interactive Entertainment is well aware of Xbox Game Pass and will deploy a counter-strategy in the following months.

“What I can tell you is I know they are doing some stuff because I know people at Sony who have told me that they are doing some stuff,” adding that “there will be a response to Game Pass.”

It’s expected that PlayStation Plus, PlayStation Plus Video Pass, and PlayStation Now will be the answer to Xbox Game Pass, back in October 2019 Sony slashed PlayStation Now’s prices and has been constantly adding more exciting games each month.
