Persona Series Hits 10 Million Copies Sold Milestone

Atlus has announced that their acclaimed Persona series which debuted as a spin-off title for the Shin Megami Tensei series for the original PlayStation back in 1996, has now sold 10 million copies all around. It’s an impressive milestone for the Japanese developer, and one that should continue to increase as the future for the series seems far from over.

Considering Atlus still has the massive expansion to Persona 5, Persona 5 Royal, to release later this year in Japan and planned for spring 2020 in the west, the company should see those numbers continue to rise.

Speaking of Persona 5 Royal, Atlus also announced a new live stream celebration – Persona 5 Royal Completion Announcement Premiere – for the new expansion title. The live stream event will take place on August 30, 2019 at 4AM PT/7AM ET – nice and early for all you early risers (or late night owls). You can tune in here at AbemaTV.

Persona 5 initially released back in 2016 in Japan while it release in April 2017 in the west. It was a nine year wait for fans between Persona 4 and 5, but the wait was well-worth it in the end.

Now, Persona 5 Royal looks to revitalize the entire Persona 5 experience with a slew of new features and content hitting the game. The story that follows the Phantom Thieves will be enhanced from the start as new Confidants, a new Phantom Thief Kasumi will join the heart-stealing brigade, a new location in Kichijoji to explore, plenty of new activities, a new palace to infiltrate, plenty of new songs, the ability to play through the previously unplayable third semester in the game and tons more.

Fans waiting to experience the new expansion will surely continue to raise the sales figures for the fan-favorite JRPG series. Royal is set to release on the PS4 in Japan on October 31, 2019 while the western release date is slated for sometime in spring 2020.
