Tomorrow, February 25, Square Enix will release a substantial free demo for its upcoming RPG-FPS game Outriders.
The demo will be available on PlayStation, Xbox, and PC via Steam and NVIDIA GeForce NOW featuring and all four classes, cross-play. All the progress made in the demo can be exported to the full game when it launches on April 1.
The demo will be free for all players, there is no need to pre-order the game to participate in the demo. The demo will be live on all platforms at 9:00 AM PT/12:00 PM ET. The download size is 24 GB on PC, 22 GB on consoles, without the ability to pre-load it.
Different from a Beta Test, the demo will allow the player to play a large section of the game and will feature a level cap but players can take all the classes and play with friends. Square Enix stated that the Outriders demo is indefinite, this means that the demo will not be closed a week or a month after launch. It’s expected that the demo will continue to be available post-launch.
Outriders was initially scheduled to be released on February 1, however, the development team at People Can Fly found it “extremely hard” to adapt to the remote work policy needed following the COVID-19 outbreak.
Square Enix’s Community Manager, Toby Palm, explains that the People Can Fly initially planned Outriders to launch within the Holiday season, however, the current state of the game is positive and the demo may confirm that People can Fly and Square Enix will release the game will launch with a minimum quantity of bugs and glitches.
While the core game is now in a largely complete state, our testing operations were unfortunately among the most affected by the work-process-restructuring caused by the novel coronavirus. To that end, we need a bit more time to get it right and ensure that the Outriders experience will be as smooth and issue-free as it possibly can be when we launch. It is our utmost priority to give you the best and most complete Outriders experience possible, at all costs.
