Nintendo Issues Brief Statement Regarding Joy-Con Drift Problem

Nintendo has made popular headlines over the last couple of weeks with their announcements of a new Switch Lite console, new updated original Switch model, and on a more negative side – the immensely frustrating and popular Joy-Con drifting issue. While the Switch consoles certainly are exciting, the lingering drifting issue leaves many fans weary of the future of the hardware.

Most recently, a lawsuit had been filed for the ongoing drift issue which points out the almost regular problem occurring with the Joy-Con design. It had seemed like no matter how many customers commented on experiencing the issue with at least one of their Joy-Con controllers, Nintendo was avoiding even mentioning the issue.

Well, Nintendo finally issued a remark on the drift problem in response to a message from The Verge, though it’s not exactly a bullseye in terms of fixing the problem. Instead of offering a true solution to the issue, Nintendo swiftly points any consumer experiencing the issue to contact the company’s customer support.

“We are aware of recent reports that some Joy-Con controllers are not responding correctly. We want our consumers to have fun with Nintendo Switch, and if anything falls short of this goal we always encourage them to visit http://support.nintendo.com so we can help.” – Nintendo

There’s some speculation that the newly announced Switch Lite, as well as the new Joy-Con controllers could experience these same drift issues if not addressed. And in the case of the Switch Lite, that would mean the console itself would be affected as the Joy-Con design is permanently attached to the console.

With a class action lawsuit filed towards Nintendo and many fans urging Nintendo to come up with a real solution to the problem, it’ll be interesting to see how the Big ‘N’ responds to the recent criticism.
