Grand Theft Auto is the most popular franchise on the market right now. While you can expect to see GTA rumors, well, as early as a week after the game releases, with the release of Red Dead Redemption 2 a few years ago, all the anticipation is placed squarely on the next game in the long-running series.

Tom Henderson took to YouTube to share information on what he had heard on the upcoming game. While Tom had successfully leaked a multitude of Battlefield 2042 information before the reveal, a quick look at Reddit informed that this information might have been floating around before. However, we know that he has called information before but takes all this with a grain of salt.

Disclaimer – This information has not been verified, therefore this is not factual.

First of all, anybody expecting to play the game at some point soon might want to put a pin in that. According to his information, the game will not see release till 2024 or 2025. There are multiple reasons for this, including the fact the game will be exclusive to the, by then, current-gen consoles. They want to maximize sales when the consoles are readily available.

Now obviously that is not the only reason you hold a game back like that. Another reason the game might take so long is Rockstar is focused on employee well-being. This doesn’t sound too far-fetched after they were criticized for the crunch time surrounding Red Dead Redemption 2. On top of that, with Grand Theft Auto 5 still making obscene profits, they do not feel pressure to deliver the game just yet.

The game will continue the trend of most recent games by being set in the modern-day. This is most likely to give the team more room to craft content for it, especially for the game’s inevitable online mode. On top of that, the modern-day city the game will be set in is Miami-based Vice City.

Tom stated that the initial map the game starts will be smaller than players might be used to. Since Vice City consisted of one of the smaller cities in the franchise to date this might not be too shocking. However, he claimed a plan for the franchise would be to constantly add updates to the city itself, as well as new areas being added.

While not much is known about the story at present, it again looks like it might have multiple protagonists. In addition, one of those protagonists will be female. This is will make the first time since the original GTA that the main story has included a female protagonist. She will be the bright one in the group, taking the role of a hacker.

As far as the game itself, it is in the early stages of development. Hopefully, Rockstar gives us more information soon, though knowing them, it will most likely be a while before we learn more.
