Grand Theft Auto V Is Being Remastered For Next-Gen Consoles

Take-Two Interactive Boss, Strauss Zelnick recently talk during the Morgan Stanley Technology, Media & Telecom Conference on Wednesday. The executive affirms that the remasters are a crucial part of their business, fans can expect a significant upgrade on Grand Theft Auto V on Xbox Series X|S and PlayStation 5.

It was a standard-bearer when it was launched, it continued to be the standard-bearer in the second generation, we’ll see how Grand Theft Auto does in the next generation. Obviously, I’m confident that Rockstar is going to deliver just a great experience, but you can’t do that if you’re just doing a simple port … Remastering has always been a part of the strategy.

We’ve done differently than the competition – we don’t just port titles over, we actually take the time to do the very best job we can making the title different for the new release, for the new technology that we’re launching it on.

When asked about  Grand Theft Auto VI and its release date, Strauss Zelnick said that Rockstar Games hasn’t announced any new titles for the franchise, and it’s up to Rockstar to announce future installments of the franchise.

A recent leak of Grand Theft Auto VI affirms that Dan Houser’s departure from Rockstar is because of the crunch of the development team for Red Dead Redemption 2,  and an overload of new projects at Rockstar Games, one of those projects is an upcoming remaster of  Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas to be released for the 20th anniversary of the game in 2024.

The leaker also claims that Grand Theft Auto VI will focus on the story of a single, male protagonist in the 1970’s Miami and will be around 60 hours of main story missions. Interestingly, the leaker affirms that the name of the protagonist is a huge leak that might spoil the story of the game, he affirms that the codename of the character is Ricardo, future leaks might spoil the story of the upcoming game.
