New Dino Crisis Trademarks Registered by Capcom

Capcom has registered new trademarks for their cult classic Dino Crisis IP, according to a Twitter account in Japan that reveals trademark applications.

Among the Dino Crisis trademark application, the Twitter account revealed that Capcom also applied for trademarks for Rockman (Mega Man), Darkstalkers, and Power Stone. While applying for a trademark is not necessarily indicative of a coveted Dino Crisis Remake and is a course of action that conveys the protection of intellectual property, fans could at least revel in the speculation that Capcom may one day think about considering a Dino Crisis Remake.

Capcom is, of course, most well known for their Resident Evil series, the second of which had its remake released on January 11, 2019 and recently outsold its original 1998 iteration.

The series was released on July 1, 1999 for Dreamcast, PC, and Sony PlayStation with its first entry; it’s a survival horror and action-adventure video game created by Shinji Mikami and owned by Capcom. The sequel title, Dino Crisis 2, was released for PC and Sony PlayStation in September 13, 2000 and September 29, 2000 in Japan and North America respectively. The game later came to Europe on November 24, 2000 and was ported to PC in North America and Europe on August 20, 2002.

The most recent title in the series was Dino Crisis 3, released as an Xbox exclusive in 2003, as its 2002 predecessor (Dino Stalker) was released exclusively for the PlayStation 2.

So far, any information regarding a Dino Crisis Remake is pure speculation, as Capcom has not made an official statement about the franchise. However, the company did hint that it may reveal two new games at Jump Festa, taking place on December 21-22, 2019.
