Mortal Shell Open Beta Now Live

The Souls-Like game, Mortal Shell was announced in April and now has a beta that is playable on the Epic Games Store. Developer Cold Symmetry announced this on Twitter this weekend.

“We expected demand but nothing like this, we really didn’t want so many people to feel left out. We’re delighted to open the beta for everyone on PC, starting now.”

The beta had previously been randomly distributed to those who signed up for beta access, but now it is open to all who want to join due to increased demand.

Fans and reporters alike have excitedly noted that the cat near an NPC vendor can be pet. Similar to interactions in Cyberpunk 2077 and Watch Dogs 2. This shows that Cold Symmetry has paid attention to little details in the game, and fans can look forward to more detailed encounters in the future.

Mortal Shell is a souls-like action-RPG with stamina-based combat. The game will reportedly have a slower pace than Dark Souls, and will require much more forethought going into a battle. Mortal Shell will not have a traditional skill tree and players will be quite vulnerable throughout the entire game.

“Mortal Shell was made for battle-hardened soulslike fans. It is vindictive design, assembled with spite. It will take the best among you around an hour to complete it. For everyone else, expect your progress to be much slower.”

The game has yet to have a definitive release date, but has been confirmed for PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One. The game is expected to be released between July and September on Epic and later in 2021 on Steam.

The title is priced at around $30 and will have a playtime of 15-20 hours, along with multiple playable characters.
