Konami Will Skip E3 2021 – “In Deep Development on a Number of Key Projects”

Konami has just released an official statement that confirms that they’re skipping E3 2021. The company expresses its support to the Entertainment Software Association’s E3 2021, and all participating parties.

Anticipating that the news could cause a huge backlash from fans following the company’s investment in the gambling entertainment machines, Konami has affirmed that a number of key projects are in development.

Due to timing, we will not be ready to present at E3 this year. We want to reassure our fans that we are in deep development on a number of key projects, so please stay tuned for some updates in the coming months. While we are not participating this year, we have great respect for the ESA and know that 2021 will be a great success. We will continue to support the ESA and wish the best to all participants at this year’s show.

The Entertainment Software Association announced its plans for a digital E3 where Konami was featured on the list of developers assisting the show. Konami’s as another massive blow for the digital event who will also miss Activision Blizzard, Sega, Bandai Namco, Sony Interactive Entertainment, and Square Enix.

In an official statement, the Entertainment Software Association says “we support our partner Konami’s decision to not participate in E3 this year and are excited to see what they’ll be announcing in the future when they’re ready to do so.”

The Japanese developer and the organizing committee seem to have a good relationship as it’s suggested their collaboration for next year’s event.

“We can’t wait for their return to E3 2022, but in the meantime, we look forward to sharing all of the highly-anticipated reveals, programming and so much more at this year’s E3.”

It’s rumored that Konami is working on two Silent Hill games, a Metal Gear Solid Remake.
