Gears Tactics Launching on PC in 2020

Gears Tactics will launch on PC on April 28, 2020; the release date announcement comes after the game’s trailer debuted at The Game Awards 2019.

Originally announced at E3 2018, Gears Tactics will bring turn-based strategy to the Gears of War franchise and is the first game in the series to be developed for PC from the ground up. Gears Tactics will be available on the Windows Store, Steam, and Xbox Game Pass for PC (beta).

From Xbox Wire: “Developed by The Coalition and Splash Damage, Gears Tactics is set 12 years before the first Gears of War. Cities across the planet Sera are beginning to fall to the monstrous threat rising from underground – the Locust Horde. With the government in disarray, a squad of survivors emerge as humanity’s last hope. Outnumbered and fighting for survival, players must recruit and command a squad to hunt down Ukkon, an evil mastermind who makes monsters.”

Fans who pre-order the game will have access to the Thrashball Cole Character Pack, which includes Augustus Cole as a recruit and a Thrashball Armor Set with rare abilities.

In addition, Gears 5 recently released Operation 2’s Allfather’s Arena map, which “features 27 combinations in this ever shifting arena.” Gears 5 fans can participate in Operation 2 now.

Gears of War is a video game franchise created by Epic Games that debuted on November 7, 2006. The series is developed and managed by The Coalition, and is owned and published by Xbox Game Studios. Since its inception, the Gears of War franchise has inspired other popular titles, such as the Uncharted (according to Naughty Dog developer, Lucas Pope).
