Gears 6 is Reportedly Now in Full Development

According to Giant Bomb’s Jeff Grubb during his recent Game Mess Mornings show, developer The coalition will reportedly be focusing on producing the next installment in the Gears of War series, Gears 6, as the studio is now ‘full steam ahead’ on the title. This comes after the cancellation of two games being developed at the studio, and a series of layoffs at Microsoft that also impacted the studio.

Grubb claimed “They have canceled that smaller project, as well as another project, so there have been two games canceled there.”

“This was all reflected in the layoffs that happened at Microsoft, which did hit The Coalition a little bit. The studio is now going to move on fully to Gears 6. I say now, it has likely moved on to Gears 6 in full over the course of the last year, but definitely, that will be their next game.”
