Last week a database listing unofficially revealed that a Final Fantasy VII Remake demo was on Square Enix’s plans for the PS4 in the near future. Today, fans got an unofficial leak that soon their wait will be over. After years of rumors, requests, and over four years of development, players will be able to join Squad and the AVALANCHE gang in their struggle to save the ‘Planet’ from the evil hands of SHINRA.

Reddit users managed to download and share the demo, which cannot be played, but they did some data harvest and found two interesting elements: An .XML file that suggests that the Final Fantasy VII Remake Demo will be available in different languages. They also discovered the inclusion of seven scenarios. Some users suggest this could mean the number of cinematics while others argue it can be the evidence of the game’s different episodes.

The first episode of Final Fantasy VII Remake is scheduled for release on March 3, 2020. Developer Square Enix brought back some key staff members, such as the original character designer Tetsuya Nomura as the game’s Main Director and Main Character Designer, Director Yoshinori Kitase as Producer, and Kazushigue Nojima as Writer.

In the development of the game, Square Enix opted for Epic Games’ Unreal Engine 4 rather than developing their own engine. This decision was made assuring fans that Square Enix and Epic Games Japan would be working together in order to optimize the engine for Remake.
