Xbox has just announced the delay of EA Play for Xbox Game Pass for PC subscribers. EA’s subscription service will now be integrated in 2021.

The Xbox Game Pass Team affirms that both companies are working on providing a better experience on PC, and the development team needs more time.

When we originally set out to write this blog post, which would announce the availability of EA Play on PC with Xbox Game Pass, it looked a little bit different. Unfortunately, what had been a celebratory post is now one asking for a little more patience: We made the decision to delay until 2021 the release of EA Play on PC as part of the Xbox Game Pass for PC and Ultimate memberships.

Xbox is still confident that their partnership with Electronic Arts will be key for enriching the Xbox Game Pass library of games. It will also help people and communities to discover the hidden gems in the EA catalog and it also could provide a better experience for members across platforms.

The fuse of Xbox Game Pass and EA Play adds benefits to subscribers such as in-game rewards, and free trials for new EA games.

  • Special member benefits like access to incredible in-game challenges and rewards, invites to member-only events, and exclusive content.
  • Instant access to a library of Electronic Arts’ best games and fan-favorite series. Play any games that have already been added as much as you want for as long as you’re a member.
  • A 10%* discount on EA digital purchases on Steam including full games, expansions, points packs, and more.

Xbox Game Pass was one of the biggest selling points for the Xbox Series X|S, EA Play was added to Microsoft’s subscription service on November 10 at no extra cost. Game Pass Ultimate added Project xCloud and a free month of Disney Plus.

Game Pass will also become even bigger after the acquisition of Zenimax Media, the parent company of Bethesda Softworks, id Software, Arkane Studios, Machine Games, and Tango Gameworks. The first glimpse of how big Game Pass will be is the release of Doom Eternal on the subscription service back on October 1st.

According to Xbox, more news will be revealed in early 2021.
