Open-world titles mostly attempt to deliver the most realistic experience you could have in a world like that of the game. In order to reach such a level, developers need to provide more freedom for the players and add to the level of details that appear in the game to meet the standards of today’s lifestyle. Mini-games are a kind of the aforementioned details that help you to feel you’re really walking in the world of the game. Sometimes, the mini-games are interesting and addictive enough that made the developer to release it as a standalone title. Like Gwent, which was a mini-game in The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt at first. Regarding that success, we were expecting to see the same thing happening for Cyberpunk 2077, but CD Projekt RED says that’s not the case for the upcoming action RPG.
It’s been previously confirmed that Cyberpunk 2077 will feature some mini-games, but don’t expect a card game like Gwent and Netrunner. CD Projekt RED is developing its own brand new mini-game for Cyberpunk 2077. Rafal Jacki from the Polish studio said:
Sorry all but we are not doing Netrunner in any way – I’m a fan of the game myself but we decided to create something new and stand alone. No plans to have a card game in the Cyberpunk 2077 video game.
However, there’s a physical card game under development based on Cyberpunk 2077, which will be launched in 2020. Also, we’ve recently received a list of new details on the game itself, including New Game Plus mode.
CDPR is going to showcase the E3 2019 gameplay demo once again at Gamescom 2019 only for attendees.
Cyberpunk 2077 will be available on April 16 for PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC.
