V from Cyberpunk 2077 in front of a mirror

Cyberpunk 2077 Devs Still Have no Idea on Multiplayer

CD Project RED presented an incredible showcase at E3 2019 with Keanu Reeves appearing on the stage and revealing the long-awaited release date for Cyberpunk 2077, after 7 years of being under development. Next year, we are going to see the next AAA title from the famous Polish studio five years after the launch of The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt. However, there are still too many days ahead until we reach that time and CD Project RED definitely needs to use the remaining days to get more audience and do its marketing job in the best way possible. Attending at the world’s most famous gaming expos is an easy way to hear your audience and the Polish team is doing the same by making an appearance at Gamescom 2019, where they revealed new details on the game as well.

In an interview with Eurogamer, Marthe Jonkers, senior concept artist behind Cyberpunk 2077, was asked about the possibility of adding a multiplayer mode to the game after launch. His answer didn’t hint us on a certain clue for getting multiplayer mode but at least now we are rest assured that CD Project RED considers a multiplayer mode for the game even if it’s not part of the initial plan. Jonkers said:

It’s possible if it doesn’t fit, it doesn’t fit. We would never make anything that’s not at least The Witcher standard for Cyberpunk. I don’t know what the future holds but we will make sure everything we make will be high quality.

We are doing R&D into multiplayer but we’re focusing on single-player experience, and that’s what you’ll get in 2020. It doesn’t mean we’re saying no multiplayer, but it doesn’t mean we’re saying yes either. It’s still an R&D phase.

The team behind Cyberpunk 2077 has been increased to double in size compared to the time that CDPR was developing The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt. That’s why, I personally think this new title from the studio will be bringing an unbelievable success to CDPR if they only know how to use the provided capabilities.

Cyberpunk 2077 will be released next year on April 16 for PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC. Don’t miss the new screenshots of the game that has been shared from Gamescom 2019. The second official gameplay footage of Cyberpunk 2077 will go live on August 30.
