The team behind the well-recieved Call of Duty Mobile, TiMi Studios, is planning to take the leap from mobile developers to AAA console developers. Not only are they working on a new game, but it will be headed by the lead developer for Halo 4.

The news was revealed in a press release from TiMi, themselves a subsidiary of Tencent Games. This news was also accompanied by the announcement that a new studio, TiMi Seattle, was also being opened as part of the project.

According to the outline, the game will be a service-based shooter to release on multiple platforms. Based on their history with the mobile game this seems right in their wheelhouse. The steam currently working on it was stated to be 25 members strong and have already made “considerable progress.” Despite this fact it is stated that the team is always looking to actively expand.

Acting as Studio Director and designer, Scott Warner, has previously worked on both Battlefield and Halo. His team is being given a massive amount of freedom to create the game that they see fit. According to him:

Opportunities to have the creative freedom to make new games with the support of a leading development studio like TiMi just is not the norm. Usually, the best talent is offered a choice between making another sequel or taking a personal risk to make a smaller-scale game.

Vincent Gao, TiMi international director, also added to this, stating:

We want to exceed the AAA expectations of players today and this team will have the resources and talent to make it happen. Through collaboration and access to TiMi’s global resources, this team in Seattle can make AAA console games ready for global audiences on multiple platforms.

According to a report from Reuters, TiMi has brought in over 10 billion dollars over the last year. This should give them a lot of room when making their new title.
