According to a recent report from Insider Gaming, Ubisoft has removed 50 developers from the upcoming game Assassin’s Creed Hexe. This decision was reportedly made last week. The team was moved from Hexe to the company’s interproject team for developers not assigned to any game. Additionally, the report states that Jean Guesdon, who began overseeing the Assassin’s Creed franchise earlier this year, has decided to remove the “cat companion” feature from the game. The game will now take a more grounded approach to the protagonist’s magic, focusing on her understanding of crafting and science that appears magical. Lastly, while Assassin’s Creed Hexe is reportedly scheduled for June 2027, the site’s sources speculate that it may be delayed to holiday 2027.
In an episode of the Insider Gaming Podcast, Tom Henderson claimed that Ezio Auditore da Firenze from Assassin’s Creed 2 was planned to appear halfway through Assassin’s Creed Hexe and train protagonist Elsa in “the ways of the Assassins,” though it is currently unknown whether this remains the case. Additionally, Henderson said Ubisoft has completely overhauled the combat system and that the game appears to be targeting a Holiday 2027 release. “They actually hired contortionists to come in and do the mo-cap for it. So there’s going to be a lot of like acrobatics as well in the combat system,” said Henderson. This would suggest that the game could be revealed sometime this year.
