Highguard is finally out after several speculations, and players can finally get their hands on it. The game features several characters, called Wardens, who are vastly different from one another. Here’s a list ranking all eight characters so far by effectiveness.

8. Una
Una is Highguard’s mystical and effective Warden who can channel spirits to buff allies and disrupt enemies. She’s a powerful support, offering debuffs, vision control, and situational healing. However, her impact depends heavily on team coordination and timing. As such, Solo players may struggle to extract consistent value from her kit, and her lack of direct damage makes her feel underwhelming in fast-paced fights.

7. Kai
Kai is a Warden that specializes in ice-based crowd control, freezing lanes, slowing enemies, and slowing players. His abilities reward smart positioning and anticipation, making him effective in objective-heavy modes. However, fights are hard to close out with Kai alone, as he relies on teammates to capitalize on his setups. When coordination is lacking, his influence drops significantly. Because of this, it’s hard to rely on him for pivotal moments and make him among the best.
6. Slade
Slade is raw aggression incarnate. He hurdles fire and magma to overwhelm enemies with significant damage. He can take down aerial movements and hone in on specific areas in the map, making him the best character for players who enjoy constant combat. Unfortunately, Slade’s playstyle is also pretty predictable, and his limited mobility leaves him vulnerable to flanks and coordinated attacks.
5. Condor
Condor is Highguard’s most balanced Warden so far. She blends offense, defense, and mobility. As such, she’s a good pick most of the time, especially for new players. That said, her biggest weakness is also her defining trait: she doesn’t truly excel at anything. While dependable and consistent, Condor lacks any unique or critical skills, making her good but not the best.

4. Mara
Mara is a Warden who thrives on control and precision, excelling at coordination and locking down objectives. Mara is a support-focused Warden built around keeping her team in the fight. Her tactical, Soul Armor, grants nearby allies a temporary overshield, making pushes and defenses far more durable. Mara’s ultimate, Immortal Coil, creates a forward respawn point, allowing teammates to return to the battle quickly and maintain pressure on objectives, which is why she’s so strong in coordinated, objective-driven play. Mara ranks high because she consistently enables winning strategies, but isn’t the best herself.

3. Redmane
Redmane is built for destruction. He specializes in tearing through defenses and structures, making him great for aggressive pushes. His durability and siege-focused abilities make him a great pick in modes where breaking enemy strongholds is the key to victory. While he’s less effective in open-field battles, his ability to force and apply relentless pressure makes him one of the best picks in the game.

2. Scarlet
Scarlet is Highguard’s high-skill assassin. Players using her rely on stealth, positioning, and precision attacks on the battlefield. She also dominates by eliminating key targets, and while her learning curve can be hard for some, making mistakes with her is punishing; players who master her are rewarded with effectiveness. However, due to her difficulty, it’s hard to put her in the top spot.

1. Atticus
The poster boy of Highguard. Atticus claims the top spot thanks to his unmatched versatility and impact during matches. His lightning-based abilities deal heavy damage and have excellent area control. Whether clearing enemies, taking objectives, or supporting teammates, Atticus always feels relevant. He’s powerful without being restrictive, easy to use without being shallow, and consistently effective in nearly every situation. This makes him the gold standard for Highguard characters.
