Over the weekend, Square Enix has released a new set of wallpapers and avatars for Final Fantasy VII Remake, this time of Barret Wallace.
Continuing their ongoing teasing of the title’s fans, Square tweeted the availability of these new images a few weeks after their previous release of wallpapers and avatars for main protagonist Cloud Strife.

Fans who have held the original game in their hearts for two decades can certainly appreciate Barret’s new look, for while having enormous grey blocks for hands might be fun, it certainly never seemed practical. No word yet on whether or not everyone’s favorite eco-terrorist will retain his characteristic potty-mouth, but the world is waiting to find out.
Interested gamers can download these wallpapers and avatars in various sizes here.
In another tweet, Final Fantasy VII Remake producer Yoshinori Kitase disseminated more information regarding the classic mode combat option the game will have, where fans can opt for turn-based combat over real-time action.
Do you prefer turn-based combat over all-out action?

In one more bit of Final Fantasy VII Remake news, Square Enix also released a press statement that announces a launch event for the game, taking place on top of the Skytree Tower in Tokyo. In celebration of the game’s release, the interior of Skytree Tower will be adorned with decorations intended to allow fans to experience the world of FFVII Remake. The event features a broadcast of a video exclusive to the event, various bits of merchandise for sale, and a cafe menu inspired by the game. Square Enix previously hosted a launch event for Kingdom Hearts 3 at Skytree, so this seems like it may become a regular event for big game launches.
