Xbox Series X Production is ‘On Track’ Says Phil Spencer

Xbox’s Head of Gaming, Phil Spencer recently talked about how the team of manufacturers have kept the production of Xbox Series X right on schedule amid the challenges presented by COVID-19. However, he suggest that game development may be a much different story.

Teams are doing a really good at keeping hardware on track.” Phil Spencer at CNBC’s Squawk Alley news program.

I’d say the bigger unknown is probably the game production, just being honest. Game production is a large scale entertainment activity now, you have hundreds of people coming together, building assets, working through creative.

On the hardware side we feel good about our plans, there’s obviously some impact on our schedules but overall we’re in line with where we thought we would be. On the game production side we’re learning every day, I still feel good about it, but I also need to make sure that the security and the safety of our teams is the most important thing and not unduly push when things just aren’t ready.

Earlier this month, Spencer confirmed that Microsoft does not have a plan b in the launch of the Xbox Series X, the company is determined to allow players get a hand on a next gen Xbox on holidays. While Spencer did admit that executives are studying the situation, the recent confirmation reinforces that Microsoft won’t delay the console.

Xbox’s marketing team has built a hype for the upcoming Xbox Showcase, next Thursday, fans will be delighted to see what are the new Xbox Series X games. The new Assassin’s Creed Valhalla will be revealed with a new gameplay footage.

Team is doing great work and adapting. I’ve never been more excited about Xbox plans. We’ve heard you, you want transparency/authenticity. We plan to keep showing that way, next step is not too much of a wait (games)Phil Spencer
