Xbox Maverick’s Pre-Orders Starts On April 2019

Xbox newest console under the code-name Maverick is not a Next-Gen system, but it will be a cheaper version of the Xbox One, that was revealed by Thurrot back in November 2018. The idea is to offer players who currently don’t own a Xbox One console the chance to acquire a brand new system at a bargain price.

To be released in May the pre-order starts at April. The disc-less Xbox One it’s an attempt to bring more users to Xbox Game Pass and Project xCloud, and while Phil Spencer recently claimed that it’s in Xbox plans to include Xbox Game Pass in all platforms possible it’s very unlikely that those platforms include Sony and Nintendo, so a cheaper Xbox One might be Microsoft’s plan B to that approach.

Pricing information is still undisclosed but I would guess 200$ would be it’s starting price and while it’s not a massive drop in it’s current value it’s somewhat considerable when for that price you’re taking a very capable gaming system.

In addition to the disc-less Xbox One S All-Digital Edition, we’ve heard Microsoft may be gearing up to announce a Fortnite Edition console with a custom Fortnite design, rather than a simple game bundle. It’s unclear whether the Fortnite console would be a regular S, an X, or a disc-less version at this time, but we’ll keep you posted as soon as we know more.

If Microsoft manages to sell the Xbox Maverick at 150$ bundled with a three months Xbox Game Pass subscription it’ll surely make be a big success for the company and might manage to extend the lifespan of the system maybe a couple of years ahead of its competitor the PS4.
