Werewolf: The Apocalypse – Earthblood Releases Gameplay Trailer

Nacon and Cyanide introduced their new project, Werewolf: The Apocalypse – Earthblood, with a six minute gameplay trailer highlighting the three different types of gameplay.

Developers Cyanide Studios, known for Call of Cthulhu and the Styx series, released a gameplay trailer, with developer commentary talking about the story and missions the player will be going on. Cyanide, having previously worked on the Styx series, has plenty of experience in the stealth genre. Using this as a pillar, Cyanide created a game that focuses on a balance between stealth, conversations, and combat.

The player takes control of Cahal, a werewolf eco-terrorist who has been banished from his pack and fights against the Pentex Corporation and their abundant pollution. Cahal can take on three forms. Being a shapeshifter, Cahal can transform into a wolf, a hybrid wolfman, or he can maintain his human form to talk with people he finds in the open world. The world is presented to the player in the form of large hub worlds located in the American Northwest.

While Werewolf: The Apocalypse – Earthblood is based on the board game RPG that been around since 1992, spawning multiple iterations of the board game as well as several novels. Cahal will be able to spend time in the Penumbra, a space between the spiritual and physical world where Cahal must communicate with the Great Spirit of the Waterfall to continue his quest.

Combat is relegated mostly to the werewolf form, which has two movesets: slow and strong and quick and agile. The two types of moves give the player the opportunity to adjust their playstyle depending on the problem at hand.

Werewolf: The Apocalypse – Earthblood releases February 4, 2021 for PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S and PC via the Epic Games Store.
