GreedFall Coming To PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S

GreedFall developer and publisher, NACON and Focus Home Interactive, have announced a partnership in order to create new content, as well as a release of the game on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S.

GreedFall is an action role-playing game originally released on September 10, 2019 for the PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC. The game made a name for French developer Spiders, who had previously made The Technomancer and The Testament of Sherlock Holmes. GreedFall succeeded in providing a scratch to the Mass Effect itch, with solid combat mechanics, a web of narrative paths, and choices that affected the story.

Set on the island of Teer Frade, players assume the role of De Sardet, a neutral party with the ability to choose from one of the colonial factions asserting dominance over the new land or the native peoples. Granted power from the gods of the island, De Sardet must explore the island and protect its people from the creatures inhabiting it while balancing political tension.

GreedFall may have spread itself too thin, however, in diversifying the gameplay loop too much. Developing a gripping narrative that feels like it’s the players’ unique story unfolding before them is an almost impossible thing to do, so balancing this and an Indie studio trying to create an open-world format resulted in a game that does everything it sets out to do, but only moderately well. Nothing shines, but everything is there for a solid game to sink your teeth into.

Hopefully, with more hands on deck to create an enrapturing experience in the downloadable content, NACON and Focus Home Interactive will be able to give GreedFall the attention it needs in the coming months.
