Tim Sweeney: We Need To Fight To Defend Our Rights

Tim Sweeney ‘s latest comments on the legal war between Google, iOS and Epic Games has suggested that the Epic Games’ founders it’s arguing about money, he affirms that people’s freedom as a customer has been violated.

“At the most basic level, we’re fighting for the freedom of people who bought smartphones to install apps from sources of their choosing, the freedom for creators of apps to distribute them as they choose, and the freedom of both groups to do business directly.” Said Epic Games’ founder Tim Sweeney.

The outgoing legal dispute between three software giants has taken users by surprise, the problem lies in Epic Games’ vision to the revenue that developers must receive for their creations. As a way to bypass the 30% of each V-Buck bought in Android or Apple, Epic Games announced that in-game sale of the currency was programmed to Fortnite. As Epic Games’ move for avoiding the tax of Google and Android benefits the player who now has a 20% discount on all v-bucks.

The response from Apple was quick, the Cupertino-based company decided to remove Fortnite from the App Store, iOS devices that have Fortnite installed won’t receive future updates.

The primary opposing argument is: “Smartphone makers can do whatever they want”. This as an awful notion. We all have rights, and we need to fight to defend our rights against whoever would deny them. Even if that means fighting a beloved company like Apple.

Another argument against supporting #FreeFortnite is “this is just a billion-dollar company fighting a trillion-dollar company about money”. But the fight isn’t over Epic wanting a special deal, it’s about the basic freedoms of all consumers and developers.
Finally, there’s nothing wrong with fighting about money. You work hard to earn this stuff. When you spent it, the way it’s divided determines whether your money funds the creation of games or is taken by middlemen who use their power to separate gamers from game creators.
