Plants vs Zombies

The Next Plants VS Zombies Is Probably Hosting a Playtest as EA Sends Out Invitations

To be honest, Electronic Arts doesn’t really have anything special to showcase at its annual EA Play event this year, except a gameplay trailer for Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order, which definitely wasn’t a surprising reveal from EA and Respawn. However, prior to EA Play 2019, Electronic Arts had confirmed new entries for Need For Speed and Plants vs Zombies franchises. While there’s no details on the former, it seems the latter is about to host a playtest session earlier in August.

Based on some recently received reports, EA is sending out invitation emails for some selected players to join the playtest for the next game in PvZ series. it’s being said that the codename for the game is Picnic. Here is the email that has been sent to a number of players around the world:

You are invited to participate in the new PvZ shooter (codename Picnic) playtest on Xbox One or PS4. Made by the team that created PvZ Garden Warfare, the Picnic Closed Alpha will give players a first glimpse into the new game – you don’t want to miss out!

According to the email, players are going to experience Closed-Alpha version of the game and it’s being developed by the same team that brought us Plants vs Zombies: Garden Warfare, so, the new title could be a sequel for GW2. Playtest will be running only on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. It’s going to kick-off on August 1st and end on 6th day of the same month. First two days, the game will be approachable from 11 AM to 3 PM (PST), and the following days it will be available at any given time. Be aware that the time for sign-up ends at 11 PM PST on July 25.

Before the playtest for the new Plants vs Zombies gets started, EA announced that there’s a title from the series in the works for mobiles, which will host its pre-alpha test through Android devices. This definitely proves that the version we are talking about isn’t the same game that will be coming to smartphones.

We will update you on the rumor as soon as we get new official details. Make sure to follow Gaming Instincts on Twitter to get latest news on video games easier and faster.
