According to a recent report from The Verge, Microsoft confirmed that some existing subscribers will be able to avoid the recently announced Game Pass price hikes. However, the company states that only existing subscribers in Germany, South Korea, Ireland, Poland, and India will be able to remain on the old price. This benefit only stands if they’re on an auto-recurring plan as If they unsubscribe, the new prices will apply. Additionally, according to head of Xbox communications Kari Perez, these regions will likely have to switch to the new prices in the future.
“Our recent Game Pass update remains unchanged,” said Perez. “Current subscribers in certain countries will continue renewing at their existing price for now, in line with local requirements. We’ll provide advance notice before price adjustments take effect in these countries.”
Microsoft Gaming recently announced the new Xbox Game Pass upgraded tiers. These include Essential, Premium, and Ultimate. The Essential tier will replace the Core tier while the Premium tier has replaced the Standard tier. The Ultimate tier is the only plan that will see a price increase. The plan will be increased by 50 percent from $19.99 per month to $29.99 per month. The PC Game Pass plan has also increased by 40 percent, from $11.99 to $16.49.
