Fans of the Terminator franchise should look forward to the upcoming rerelease of Terminator: Resistance, a game that uses the universe its set in to explore some unique ideas within the Terminator mythos.
Originally released in November 2019, the game’s release was answered with mixed reviews. With IGN giving the game a four out of ten and Steam reviews resting at nine out of ten, Terminator: Resistance was lost among the onslaught of games that came out around that time through a combination of the game being poorly marketed and Terminator: Dark Fate having just come out to a mild response from fans.
The rerelease of the 2019 first-person shooter is a great opportunity for those who want another dive into the world slowly being overcome by SkyNet. The game, when approached with the right expectations, is more enjoyable than initially anticipated. If players go into the game wanting to shoot androids, they will find a little more sprinkled on top than they are expecting. The game makes a genuine effort to provide side content, story arcs, and an open world structure; a certainly ambitious endeavor for a Terminator game.
Utilizing the Unreal Engine 4, the team at Reef Entertainment is making a fully updated version of the game, with balance and difficulty patches coming in tandem. Players who own a PlayStation 4 copy of the game will receive a free upgrade to PlayStation 5. A new infiltrator mode, letting players control a T-800 series Infiltrator unit, has been added, as well. 4K resolution and 60 frames per second, along with a host of visual upgrades are coming with the PlayStation 5 version. On top of all this, paid DLC for Terminator: Resistance was announced for Summer 2021 for PS5 and PC versions of the game.
There was a distinct passion and heart put into this game, only limited by the developers budget. Seeing that this game originally slipped under the radar, the rerelease is a great chance for players who want a fun, simple, looter shooter.
