In an official statement from Techland, a spokesperson affirmed that good news regarding Dying Light 2 are still to arrive, the departure of Pawel Selinger, former Lead Art Director, and Writer for the game has been addressed since October 2020.

Here is what Techland told PC Gamer:

“Paweł Selinger, who has been the Narration Designer for the last two years, decided at the end of 2020 to end his cooperation with Techland and to pursue his further career elsewhere. Paweł spent most of his professional life at Techland and he, among others, takes credit for the success of the series Call of Juarez. He left a large piece of himself with Dying Light 2, as he worked on the project from the very beginning. His duties, ie. the narrative department, were taken over by Piotr Szymanek in October 2020.

“We would like to reassure all fans of the upcoming Dying Light 2 that the position of Art Director is not threatened and has been held by Eric Cochonneau since November 2019. Eric has been taking care of every aspect of the upcoming production ever since and the team under his leadership is doing their best to offer players the best game possible.

We will be sharing exciting news about Dying Light 2 soon!”

Dying Light 2 was announced in 2018, the development team announced some struggles in the game’s development in early 2020. The information was shared by the studio before the COVID-19 outbreak on the west. It’s expected that the dangerous virus slowed the development of the game even if it’s not confirmed by Techland.

Dying Light 2 takes place in a post-apocalyptic world, 15 years after the events of Dying Light. It’s confirmed by Techland that players will be able to make “impactful choices”. Some decisions have a much bigger influence that affects the whole world of the game, like the final choice of the player that leads to the revival of a new form of zombies in a new region of the city.

Players take the role of Aiden Caldwell one of the survivalists living within one of the seven regions of the city. The mission starts with Aiden getting informed about the water pumps have been turned off by Colonel. A leader who controls an island near to the city with a bad reputation which means asking him to turn on the pumps doesn’t end in peace.
