Swery65 Signs A Suda51 Game in Best Way Possible

Hidetaka Suehiro, also known as SWERY or Swery65, is a Japanese developer best know for his bizarre Twin Peaks-inspired open-world game Deadly Premonition. He is not the same person as Goichi Suda, also known as Suda51, best known for the No More Heroes franchise.

Due to both developers being known for their own unique brands of video games, and having numbers, it might be easy to see why they might from time to time have their bodies of work confused with each other. They are both known for a weird sense of humor, and off-beat games for a smaller base of fans.

That is exactly what happened when Suehiro was at an autograph session in Moscow this Monday.  He was there accepting an award at the Russian International Horror Film Festival before signing things from fans. That is when somebody walked up with a brand new copy of No More Heroes III, the latest game from Suda 51, which had been released last Friday.

Instead of turning the gamer away, he decided to sign the game in the best way possible, once again reminding fans why Swery 65 is awesome. He signed the game in permanent marker, declaring that ‘this is not my game’ above his signature.

The fact that Darick Robertson’s cover art illustration of a pissed-off FU is framed so nicely by the words only makes this better. Of course, there is the possibility that the person knew what they were doing asking him to sign it. I can imagine that a true fan would know the difference, and with both developers so interlocked by their work, there might actually be value in having each developer autograph each other work. They two have also been attempting to team up on a horror game, which I would gladly pay to make happen.

This is by no means the first time something like this has happened, but it is always fun to see how a developer will react in this sort of situation. Now I guess the only thing left to do is have Suda autograph one of Swery’s games and see if by placing them together they warp the fabric of time and space.
