Summer Game Fest

Summer Game Fest Will Reveal an Unannounced Game

Summer Game Fest is now taking shape, the event will officially start tomorrow May 7, with Inside Xbox. Following Microsoft’s stream, on Tuesday, May 12, Geoff Keighley will surprise fans with the reveal of an unannounced game.

All the information disclosed at the moment of writing is that Keighley’s stream will go live at 12 pm ET, 9 am PT, the stream is called Sunrise #1. There are no other events scheduled for May, but it’s very likely that more announcements will arrive from any of the 16 companies affiliated to Summer Game Fest.

For June there are three booked streams, The Steam Game Festival: Summer Edition from June 9 through June 14. Night City Wire on June 11, and EA Play Live also taking place on June 11. July 11 will see “Digital extreme updates” for Warframe players and finally on August, GamesCom: Opening Night Live will be hosted by Geoff Keighley for the great finale of the first edition of the Summer Game Fest

Summer Game Fest is organized by Geoff Keighley and im8bit, both parties resigned their collaboration with the ESA for the E3 2020, the new festival seems to be the final nail in the coffin for the E3. The event struggled to find relevance as companies like Nintendo and Sony  chose to celebrate their announcements in streams that proved to be more effective. E3 suffered from leaks and a misunderstanding of what the developers actually wanted. The ESA, organizers of E3 had allegedly planned a very unique event for 2020, prioritizing attendees’ entertainment via celebrities and influencers.

The ESA has confirmed that E3 2020 is cancelled, but 2021 will see a return of the the expo with a refreshed and re-imagined image. Sadly for the expo fans, Xbox may have already confirmed that they will no longer participate in E3, Sony has skipped the event for two years in a row and Summer Game Fest will surely continue for 2021 as it’s a less expensive and more effective way for developers to announce their projects.
