Luminous Productions and Square Enix were excited to reveal their new title, Project Athia, at PlayStation’s Future of Gaming event. The reveal came with a one minute long teaser trailer. The game has been announced to be a PlayStation 5 exclusive.

Project Athia is the culmination of our philosophy here at Luminous Productions to create completely new and fresh gaming experiences that fuse together the latest technologies with art. With PS5, our vision truly comes to life, and with Project Athia players can look forward to being transported to a vast and detailed world filled with beauty and dismay.”

Project Athia will take you on a thrilling other-worldly adventure – it is going to be action-packed, and at times twisted, tempestuous, and forbidding. It is a journey that we want to feel as much yours as it is our protagonists.”

It has yet to be revealed when the game will come to consoles, but since Project Athia is still a working title, it is likely that it will be released next year at the earliest.

Luminous Productions is a subsidiary of Square Enix, formed in 2018 to work on Final Fantasy XV, which was cancelled.  This will be the first official game to be released by the studio.

The trailer shows off beautiful sprawling landscapes, extremely detailed environments, and a suspenseful soundtrack. The game will feature huge creatures that tower over the protagonist, and the gameplay footage also shows off how smooth the movements are on the PlayStation 5.

The protagonist looks to have elemental abilities like the power to control vines, and she does not seem to take fall damage either. The trailer also showed off a couple of possible enemies, such as a large wolf-like creature, a gigantic worm, and a dragon.
