Sony State of Play Might Be Coming This Week

As mentioned in a previous story, Sony is rumored to be making some big announcements very soon in either a State of Play or Showcase. As of right now, with the release of Gran Turismo 7, there are no more Playstation Studios games with a set release date, which make it very likely that we should be hearing something from Sony soon. This seems to be corroborated by a report by Gamereactor which claims that multiple sources inside Sony and one outside have said that the State of Play or Showcase is planned this week, but could be delayed due to the conflict in Ukraine:

Four of my usually very reliable sources at Sony and one outside of the company told me last month that a new PlayStation State of Play or Showcase stream has been planned for this week. One of the reasons why I haven’t shared this with you before is that some developers who are set to show off their games in the show and even some at PlayStation Studios have asked for the show to be delayed because they don’t want to take the spotlight away from the awful stuff happening right now. This has allegedly lead to talks about delaying it a week or two, but at least it sounds like we’ll get some very exciting announcements from PlayStation and its partners before the end of March.

Of course it is advised to take all rumors with a grain of salt, but this Showcase has been hinted at for some time now by other leakers, and so it seems pretty likely that this will happen. As to what could be announced, Sony has a lot they could show off during this event – from not only more details about games like Hogwarts Legacy, Final Fantasy XVI, and God of War: Ragnarok, to more details about the PSVR2 and Project Spartacus. There are also rumors that several old IPs are being resurrected and are currently in production. Only time will tell at this point, but it looks to be an exciting time for Playstation owners.
