Sony Announces PlayStation Studios Brand

PlayStation announced today PlayStation Studios, the new brand will join all Sony Interactive Entertainment first-party studios.The brand will go live together the launch of the PlayStation 5. The news was shared with a opening video that will be featured at the start of the games, in the video, characters from The Last of Us, Little Big Planet, Horizon: Zero Dawn, God of War, Ratchet & Clank are showcased.

Sony Interactive Entertainment’s Vice President and Head of Global Marketing, Eric Lempel, explains why this move was important for expanding the PlayStation brand around the world, he says the average consumer is not currently clear which games comes directly from the Sony’s first-party developers.

“We think this is a good way to let consumers know that, if they see it, then the quality games they’ve come to expect from us are here. And this brand will exist for well-known existing franchises, as well as brand new franchises that we have yet to explore.”

“What we really wanted to do was create a way to bring the consumer into the world,”… “When they play our games that’s the nice robust piece that happens, and then you’re transported into an adventure with rich worlds, old characters, and really captivating stories. We’re all huge Marvel fans. One of our biggest games of all time has a Marvel character in it with Spider-Man. But this is really about doing something specific for our games and our industry.

The announcement of is another indication of Sony’s vision for taking a pole position in next gen software and hardware. PlayStation 5 designer, Mark Cerny, revealed that the console has been tailored to the needs and request of game designers. Sony forte is the rich storytelling that its IP features. Sony bets that PlayStation 5 is the perfect platform to deliver the best games for next gen.
