Capcom’s massively successful survival horror title Resident Evil Village could be coming to Microsoft’s Game Pass according to some incidental evidence spotted on the Xbox Store website.
The evidence in question was spotted by Polish website XGP.pl, a website dedicated to Xbox and Game Pass. According to the website, Resident Evil Village appeared on the Xbox Store with an “Included on Game Pass” tag. Sadly after a few minutes the tag was removed from the game’s description, but the website managed to snag a screenshot of it before it was taken down.
It’s unknown if the tag was a mistake, or if Microsoft added it sooner than it should have. Either way, this could still mean that the game will be coming to Game Pass soon. This is also not the first time XGP.pl has been right about something like this. The website also reported something similar about Mass Effect Legendary Edition before that game was also added to Game Pass a month later. It’s not hard to assume then that Resident Evil Village could then also make the jump to Game Pass in the same fashion.
Resident Evil Village is the latest in the series. Released last year to great reviews, the game is a direct sequel to 2017’s Resident Evil 7 Biohazard, and continues the story of protagonist Ethan Winters as he faces supernatural forces to rescue his daughter Rose. Our own review of the game gave it a score of 8.0, saying that although the game has a bit of a lighter focus on the horror elements this time around (especially after RE7 Biohazard’s horror-heavy affair), the game’s action and outrageous set pieces and moody atmosphere still make for an outstanding game, even if the general tone goes against what the series is generally known for.
