Remedy now expanded into two teams, two new games in development

Remedy Entertainment, the Finnish studio responsible for creating story-driven titles such as Alan Wake and Quantum Break, has announced big plans for their team. Published to the studio’s website today was a blog post titled “State of the Studio”.

The developers are splitting into two teams; One is continuing work on a project they’ve been building behind closed doors for some time, while the other is working on “an early concept” of a second new game. Thomas Puha, the studio’s PR lead, explained the split:

“Moving forward, we want to create more games and hopefully get them out more often. In order to achieve this, Remedy has expanded into two game development teams…Remedy has developed games for over 20 years. We’re very thrilled about the AAA games we have in the works and where we are as a studio right now.”

He also made two things very clear: Firstly, they won’t be attending E3 or Gamescom to debut either title. They’re both early in their development, and even as they split in two, Remedy remains a team that likes to take its time. Secondly, they didn’t want to lead gamers on. Neither game in development is Alan Wake 2, which they so heavily teased in Quantum Break. Puha did curiously say in regards to the Twin Peaks-like property that they are “exploring opportunities in other mediums to tell more Alan Wake stories.” Perhaps a live-action series based on the Alan Wake mythos? It’s something they’ve already done before with the promotional short series Bright Falls that was released to Xbox LIVE back in 2010, and it would be the most Remedy thing ever to do more of that.
