Remedy and 505 Reach Agreement To Expand Control

Developer Remedy Entertainment and Publisher 505 Games have reached an agreement to continue working together on an expanded universe set within their 2019 game Control. This universe in and of itself is an expansion of the universe set up by Remedy’s 2010 game Alan Wake.

This agreement was reached to develop an upcoming co-op game set in the universe, so far only known as Project Condor. It will be a PvE game built on remedy’s own Northlight Engine and will be available on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC at some point in the future.

Rami and Raffi Galante, co-CEOs of Digital Bros Group, parent company to 505 Games, stated on the official Remedy website:

We are excited to continue and further expand our collaboration with Remedy. With over 2 million copies sold and revenue exceeding EUR 70 million, Control is an extremely successful game, as a multiplayer game, Condor has the potential to engage the gaming community in the long run, contributing to 505 Games’ product revenue stream longer than traditional games.

The initial investment for the game is set to be 25 million Euro, with that cost split equally between both Remedy and 505. Future revenue will also be split between the two studios as well. Another deal still being hammered out is for a bigger budget core game set in the Control universe. It remains to be seen what this game in, though based on the way it is linked to Control it seems unlikely to be the long-awaited Alan Wake 2.

Tero Virtala, CEO of Remedy Entertainment also stated on the agreement:

We have successfully collaborated with 505 Games for over four years and have both become stronger in our respective fields. We are happy to extend and deepen our partnership. This new agreement supports Remedy’s aims to expand our games into long-term franchises, create benchmark-setting games, strengthen our commercial capabilities and collaborate with great partners with whom we can succeed together.

Control released in 2019 to positive reviews, receiving multiple awards. The Ultimate edition, which contains all the DLC content is currently available.
