Launched back in 2015, Rainbow Six: Siege is Ubisoft’s longest-running game right now with billions of revenue for the company so far. Obviously, Ubisoft has no plan to release a sequel for Siege and more than likely the game will make its way through the next-gen platforms. However, developing a new spin-off of the series in order to deliver a brand new experience is something that the French developer and publisher works on.
Rainbow Six Quarantine is the new title from the series that will never be a direct competitor for Siege, as it attempts to mainly focus on co-op PvE battles. While we haven’t got anything in-details on Quarantine except a cinematic trailer at E3 2019, Yves Guillemot recently announced a release window for the game during Ubisoft’s earnings call.
According to Guillemot, Rainbow Six Quarantine is set to be released in fourth quarter of current fiscal year, which means the game will be coming sometime between January and March in 2020. In the same window, Ubisoft will also release Watch Dogs Legion, as the company’s major focus during E3 2019. While the price and gameplay details for Quarantine haven’t been shared yet, it seems this new shooter in R6 series will be a title like New Dawn for Far Cry franchise, where it was based on the world of Far Cry 5 but delivered new story contents and gameplay features, so, the same might go for Rainbow Six Quarantine.
Next year, Ubisoft is also planning to release a new entry for Assassin’s Creed series which makes the calendar of 2020 a crowded one for the French company.
