PUBG Special Projects Team Is Probably Working on A New Battle Royal Game

Once upon a time, PUBG was the first and last Battle Royale option for gamers all around the world. Believe it or not, PUBG is like a father to Battle Royale genre. There was a time that more than 3 million gamers were playing it at the same time but now, everything has changed. PUBG lost the competition of long-term supporting to Fortnite and now it barely reaches even 1 million co-current players on steam.

Despite the fact that PUBG has to compete with a bunch of creative Battle Royales right now, the development team has some new ideas in mind, as the creator of PUBG departed from development team to join PUBG Special Projects seeking new ways to create innovative games probably in the same genre.

Today, Brendan Greene officially announced via twitter that he will focus on working with the new team while “remains as a consulting creative director on PUBG” and development of further contents for the game “will be led by Taeseok Jang”

According to the tweet, PUBG Special Projects “will be based in Amsterdam” and the staff will focus on “research & game development.” He said:

We are tasked with exploring, experimenting, and creating new technologies, tools, pipelines, and gameplay; but for me, it is more than that. Together with a team of game developers and researchers, we will explore new possibilities of interaction and connection within the game space.

It still remains as a mystery that what will be the new team’s first project but it seems Greene could have a great influence in the upcoming product of the studio, as it was before.
