PlayStation Studios Appears on Steam Curator

PlayStation Studios’ Steam Curator page is now live and teasing at 13 more games to be released on PC.

“PlayStation Studios is home to the development of Sony Interactive Entertainment’s own outstanding and immersive games, including some of the most popular and critically acclaimed titles in entertainment history.”

Playstation Studio’s page list 41 games and DLC from PlayStation, however, only 24 games appear on its storefront. At the moment of publishing, Horizon Zero Dawn, Helldivers, and Predator: Hunting Grounds are the only PlayStation PC titles available for purchase on Steam. The next PlayStation title to release on Steam is Days Gone, launching later this month.

Sony Interactive Entertainment’s CEO, Jim Ryan recently said that PlayStation is interested in bringing more IPs to a wider audience.

Speaking to GQ, SIE boss Jim Ryan said that the opportunity to bring PlayStation’s IPs to a wider audience, as well as an easier port process, meant that making more games for PC was now “a fairly straightforward decision” for the company.

“We find ourselves now in early 2021 with our development studios and the games that they make in better shape than they’ve ever been before. Particularly from the latter half of the PS4 cycle, our studios made some wonderful, great games.

“There’s an opportunity to expose those great games to a wider audience and recognize the economics of game development, which are not always straightforward. The cost of making games goes up with each cycle, as the caliber of the IP has improved.”

The head of SIE Herman Hults has suggested on the PlayStation Blog in March 2020 that not all PlayStation Studio‘s games will release on PC.

“And to maybe put a few minds at ease, releasing one first-party AAA title to PC doesn’t necessarily mean that every game now will come to PC,” … “In my mind, Horizon Zero Dawn was just a great fit in this particular instance. We don’t have plans for day and date [PC releases], and we remain 100% committed to dedicated hardware.”
